Just back from the AUTM Conference in Washington, DC.

AUTM’s 50th conference this year brought together more than 2200 people from around the world who work to promote and monetize academic research. Many of those attending work in Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs), including a large group from my Alma Mater, the University California (see the second photo). TTOs work to secure IP rights and to license those rights. In many cases, the rights are used as the basis for startup companies. What a great system where everyone benefits!

I met many folks, include AUTM leaders Almesha L. Campbell, Ph.D., RTTP, HonNAI and Anji Miller Ph.D CLP RTTP, who have taken time away from their work at Jackson State University and LifeArc to add their energy to AUTM. In the first photo, Almesha and Anji show their excitement about one of my AI books (while I look a little dorky…). For those who attended and are in the United States, I can mail you a copy of the AI book if you send me your address in a private LinkedIn message (or email me at [email protected]).

Coming soon: The Centerforce IP Strategy Summit will be in Seattle on April 9, 2025. I will be speaking about current issues in AI and IP. The registration is complimentary for in-house counsel using this link. I hope to see you there!
